Deer mounts line the walls. Bass fishing magazines fan out across the table. The furniture, from barbers’ stations to the chairs, are vintage.
Walking through the doors at Reed’s Barber Shop, 1213 Greenwood Ave., is like taking a step back to the 1950s.
Of course, that’s just part of the charm.
“I love my job,” Greg Wright said.
Wright took over the shop after his father-in-law, Larry Reed, retired about six years ago.
After losing his factory job in 1996, Reed suggested his son-in-law go to barber college and come work at the shop, which he did the next year.
“I said I’d look into it, and here I am,” Wright said.
