Yesterday I hung out with Don Owens and his tree service crew in Jackson. They were cutting down a white oak that measured 207 inches at the trunk. The biggest tree in Jackson county measures at 267 inches, a silver maple. The tree was struck by lighting on June 30 for the third time. It is estimated to be about 300-years-old.
